    1 Introduction to the Linguistic Study of Language key concepts Who these books are for These books are about language, but specifically about the English language.     This book argues that Second language teaching has not been well served by recent approaches to the description of language content. The book explores how Cognitive Linguistics offers teachers a description of language that can translate into practical classroom activities.   One of the best books, that I have read during grad-school Educational program was “Applied Linguistics, and Language Teacher Education” This amazing book is a great tool, in aiding novice language teachers to put together effective teaching tech.

      The idea that linguistics is a subject of particular interest and value to foreign language teachers is one that has become increasingly accepted in recent years. In an exceptionally clear and undogmatic way, this book relates current linguistic thought to the practical problems of language teaching. Actually, my son has a new book out on linguistic relativity and he shows in a number of experiments that people have to make decisions and think very quickly online and that their language shows greater effects on the way people think than if you give them more time to think about the problem. This suggests that language is a tool for thought.
